1) No one knew how the spice box chili had come to be in the old house in the village. Chili had somehow been placed with the dried herbs, salt and pepper – but he was never used. He was stored right at the back of the cupboard between parsley and nutmeg. He was ignored – always by mistake of course – never intentionally.
Eveyday he would watch as the other spices would be chosen from their place in the cupboard and used to flavour, all be it blandly, a stew or a roast. It was sad, thought chili, to be standing around for no reason day after day.
One day, chili awoke to hear lots of noise and clamour coming from the old house. The old lady of the house had invited the village for a meal to celebrate the new year. Chili watched with sadness as salt, pepper and parsley were chosen and not him. He watched the old lady throw the spice into the stew, singing to herself and stirring the huge black pot.
Suddenly though as the old lady tasted the stew – he saw something he hadn´t seen before. The old lady pulled a face as if unhappy with the food somehow. Chili had an idea that made him go all hot and cold – it was now or never…..
Da hørte plutselig Joralf at navnet hans ble ropt opp. Det var nå det gjalt.
3) Trina was a shy, skinny girl from a small family. She had no selfconfidence and truely believed that she couldn´t do anything right. She had a dream though. She wanted to play drums in a rock band and play at concerts. She kept this dream in her heart for 26 years. Until one day she saw a notice for a band that were looking for a drummer to play with them. Trina gave this some thought, and decided that this was it. She went to the audition and played drums infront of the 2 men in the band who stared at her and said very little. She was so sure that the boys would reject her and send her away, but they didn´t. She had overcome her fear, fulfilled her dream and had therefore, conquered the world.
1) Chili could feel his heart beeting in his throat as he shuffled forward to the end of the shelf, tipped himself over and flung himself, head first into the big, black pot.
The old lady jumped and quickly grabbed chili from the stew – but it was too late. Chili had spilled a quarter of his read, ruby spice into the bubbling pot.
Whe the time came for the food to be served, the old lady blushed as she placed the stew on the old oak table. As the first guest lifted his spoon to his lips, he let out a ‘Hmm!´ The old woman closed her eyes expecting the worst.
‘This is the best stew I´ve ever tasted,´ he said. The other guests agreed wholeheartedly and finished the lot – every last bit.
